Chandigarh golfers win two golds in National Games-2022

CHANDIGARH : Chandigarh professional golfer, Karandeep Singh Kochhar, brought laurels to Chandigarh and the Chandigarh Golf Association by winning the men's sngles golf event with a huge margin in the National Games 20222 at Kensville Golf Resort Ahmedabad (Gujarat).

In spite of rough playing conditions, Karandeep (267) played consistently well under pressure and achieved a score of 4 under on Day 1, 6 under on Day 2, 7 under on Day 3 and 4 under on the final 4th day round. His total of 21 under after four rounds created a new record at the prestigious Kensville Golf Course and will be remembered fondly with times to come. He had a comfortable final lead of 10 strokes over Abhinav Lohan (277) from Haryana.

In the Team Event, Chandigarh State Team ceremoniously won the Gold Medal with their team of Professional Golfer Karandeep Kochhar and Amateur Golfer Anant S. Ahlawat scoring a consolidated 571 after the completion of 4 Rounds. The Silver Medal was taken by Karnataka with a score of 581 and Bronze Medal was won by Delhi with a score of 582.

Golf has been included in this year’s edition of the games after a gap of 21 years. Both Shri S.K. Sharma IPS, (Retd) former DGP Punjab, President Chandigarh Golf Association and Col. H.S. Baidwan, Manager for the Chandigarh State Golf Team and the Punjab State Golf Team were present at the Games venue to personally congratulate Karandeep as well as the Chandigarh Team on this momentous win.
