MOHALI: Six talented young players from RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Academy (RGPHA) have been selected to represent the Punjab state team at the ongoing 1st Hockey India Junior Women North Zone Championship 2023 in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.
The selected six girls are Harleen Kaur, Manjinder Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur, Daljeet Kaur, Namneet Kaur, and Sharanjit Kaur and are from the RoundGlass Sports Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women Hockey Academy.
During their first encounter against Chandigarh, team Punjab under the captaincy of Harleen Kaur came out victorious with a staggering 12-1 scoreline where Daljeet Kaur scored twice. And in their second match against Uttarakhand, Punjab went on to win the game 5-0 with a goal from RGPHA athlete Gurpreet Kaur.
Dronacharya Awardee Rajinder Singh (Sr), who oversees RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Academy, expressed his happiness on the selection of the players and said, “We are thrilled and proud of the six players from our Academy making it to the Punjab state team in the ongoing 1st Hockey India Junior Women North Zone Championship. This is a great achievement for the Academy. It is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and I am sure they will make us proud in the tournament.”
