CHANDIGARH: A.G.Punjab beat Rock Rovers Hockey Club by 4-2 in the men's match of theChandigarh State Senior Men and Women Hockey Championships 2023 at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here today.
Parminder opened the account for A.G.Punjab with a field goal in the fifth minute and also scored his second goal in the 58th minute. Chandeep converted a penalty corner in the 19th minutes to make it 2-0 for A.G.Punjab. Deepanshu contributed a goal in the 22nd minute as A.G.Punjab raced to a 3-0 lead.
Prabhjot (49th) and Gurpreet (55th) reduced the margin for Rock Rovers.
Chandigarh Hockey and Football Academy rained goals against Wanderers Club to register a facile 15-2 verdict.
Paramvir contributed five goals while Surinder and Sumit swelled the CHFA kitty by scoring three goals each.
Central Industrial and Security Force got the better of AG Haryana by 4-2. The winners scored through Vashudev (14th, 45th, 47th) and Vishaljit (40th, penalty corner). Suraj (27th) and Kawaljit (58th) got one goal each for AG Haryana.
In another match S.G.G.S.Hockey Club-26 beat Panjab University Hockey Club by 3-2. Panjab University Hockey Club were the first to draw the blood as Gurbakshish scored a field goal. Gurtej (37th) neutralised the lead for SGGSC.
Ranjot put S.G.G.S.Hockey Club-26 ahead with a penalty corner converstion in the 42nd minute and Soyab restored parity for PUC with a field goal in the 45th minute. As teams were tied 2-2, Mohit scored the winner for SGGSC as he converted a penalty corner in the 53rd minute.
In the women's section, P.U Hockey Club blanked Rock Rovers Hockey Club by 8-0. Monika and Suman scored two goals each for the winners,
In the second match Chandigarh Hockey Association routed S.G.G.S. School, Sector 35 by 8-0.
