PATIALA : The Khelo India Women's Track Cycling League will held ON March 2 and 3 at the National Institute of Sports (NIS) Cycling Velodrum, Patiala. For the first time in the history of cycling, the Khelo India Women's Track Cycling League is being organized with the joint support of Sports Authority of India, Ministry of Sports, Government of India and Cycling Federation of India.
Coordinator of the league and Maharaja Ranjit Singh awardee Jagdeep Singh Kahlon disclosed that the main purpose of this league is to encourage women towards sports and promote cycling.In this league, women cyclists from eight states and Union Territories of India, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu Kashmir, Chandigarh, Ladakh and Delhi will participate under three categories: senior category, junior category and sub-junior category.
The cycling league will have competitions under 5 events, which include individual pursuit, individual time trial, individual sprint, carry and scratch race.The gold medalists will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000, silver medalist Rs 6000 and bronze medalist Rs 4000.
